It’s been a while since Elon Musk first announced the Model 3 variant from Tesla. Since then many fans have been eagerly waiting for the Model 3 to hit the streets.
This electric vehicle still captures the attention of prospective buyers, and if you remember, it received 325,000 bookings with the very first week of last year’s pre-order.
One of the major reasons there are a lot of eyes on Model 3 is that it is considered the most affordable Tesla model yet, at a price of $35,000 USD. This potentially could give a significant boost to Tesla’s plans of placing its products in the driveway of more people.
That said, this vehicle achieves a 0 to 60 mph speed in less than 6 seconds and runs a total of 215 miles (346km) on one complete charge.
The Model 3 has already begun production, and Elon Musk tweeted two images of the first production unit.
A handover event is scheduled on July 28 where the first 30 customers will be receiving their cars, while Musk is claiming the first production unit for himself.
Later, Tesla plans to produce another 100 units in August, 1500 in September to a total 20000 units per month by December 2017.
Currently, the company holds over 400,000 bookings, and it seems this time Tesla might meet its deadlines.
